Integrate High Definition video over USB3.0 into your vision products with the VREO UNITY board. UNITY interfaces the SONY FCB-MA13X cameras simply and reliably to a USB3.0 port on your PC.
The VREO UNITY board has been specifically designed to work with Sony’s FCB-MA13X cameras (MA130, MA132 and MA133). Enabling all features on this exceptional camera to be utilised over USB3.0, including 1080p @ 30fps video and still images up to 13 mega pixel images. VREO support the UNITY board with a graphic user interface and software development kit allowing you to integrate HD video easily and quickly into your vision products. The small size of the FCB-MA13x cameras are a major advantage in many applications with limited space, UNITY has been designed to complement this, allowing for a very small overall solution. Power is supplied from the host computer over the USB cable allowing for an efficient one cable solution whilst maintaining streaming HD video and allowing camera control.
UNITY also features a four pin connector for general purpose input and output (GPIO). Along with power and ground, two of these pins can be configured for various functions controllable from our OneView GUI or via software control using our SDK and APIs. Not only can you read or write to these pins you can set them to output a PWM signal. One of the pins can also be configured as a push button trigger to take a still image or you can map certain other functions to these pins such as zoom+, zoom- or 'one push autofocus'. The board itself can be configured to route the strobe signal to one of the pins. The strobe signal indicates the exposure for a still image. If this is required please order the strobe version of the UNITY board.
The UNITY board connects to the FCB-MA13X via a bespoke FCC cable designed by VREO. It connects to the camera's CMOS parallel interface as well as the I2C control lines for communication. UNITY's on board FPGA converts commands received via USB to the appropriate I2C protocol commands on the camera. As soon as the camera module starts to readout a video frame a DMA channel on the FPGA starts sending data over the USB3.0 connection this results in very low latency.
VREO supply free of charge for use with VREO products, both a Windows and Linux viewer application called OneView. From OneView you can upgrade firmware on the UNITY PCB allowing you to benefit from new and improved features. Updates are available to download in the download section of this website. All functions available on the MA13X cameras can be controlled via OneView including 13 megapixel still image capture, face detection, image stabilisation, white balance and exposure controls. You can save video to disk using H.264 compression, read or write directly to camera registers. We have implemented options to take hi res still images every second for drone mapping photography and a continuous auto-focus mode for other applications.
VREO also supply free of charge for use with VREO products an SDK based on a simple to use API. Full source code for OneView is provided in a Visual Studio .net project.
The UNITY board is UVC compatible and uses native windows drivers or the Linux V4L2 driver. VREOs OneView, viewer application and various SDKs are available for free download from our download page.
